I draw with Prismacolors which are waxy and semi-transparent, building up dozens of layers in my attempt to capture the illusive qualities of light and shadow. I call them Prismapaintings because I have so much of the pencil on the paper I can treat it almost like paint. Because they are wax I use heat to blend and manipulate the pigment, but I also blend by scrubbing white pencil over everything and layering again.
A few of the drawings are done from photos taken while cruising in my 1969 Firebird convertible. I have been pleased to win a number of awards including a couple Best in Show and an award of Distinction from the Colored Pencil Society of America.
